Day-ahead auction of contracted but un-nominated capacity and reporting framework
The Gas Market Reform Group (GMRG) released a consultation paper on the day-ahead auction of contracted but un-nominated capacity and reporting framework for secondary trades. The preparation of this consultation paper was informed by the work carried out by the Day-Ahead Auction and Standardisation project teams, the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and advice from the GMRG’s independent auction advisor, NERA Economic Consulting (NERA), and its legal advisor, Johnson, Winter & Slattery (JWS).
This consultation paper comprised two parts. Part A focused on the day-ahead auction of contracted but un-nominated capacity, while Part B focused on the reporting framework for secondary capacity trades. A report by NERA providing expert advice on the coverage of the day-ahead auction of contracted but un-nominated capacity is also available below for reference.
The GMRG sought written feedback on this consultation paper and stakeholders had an opportunity to attend a public forum.
Following consideration of stakeholder feedback, the GMRG provided recommendations to the Energy Council for its consideration in December 2017.
